Do I need to manually "host key" (i.e., generate encryption key) every time I restart the key server?
Yes, this must be done whenever the key server is re-started.. To manually host a key:
- Open Start > Programs > Nodus Technologies > Nodus Encryption > Nodus.Encryption.KeyServer.ServiceMonitor to open the Nodus Key Server Monitor
- The Nodus Key Server Monitor opens. The Key Status should display "Service Not Available"
- Start the Key Monitor by clicking the blue arrow icon
- Press the New Key button
- In the pass codes window, enter a pair of pass codes (each will need to be entered twice for verification).
- Click the OK button
- The Key Server is now running. This can be verified by checking the server status messages on the Key Monitor interface - "NodusKeyServer: Running" and the "Key Status: Hosted"

Which ports can be opened and for what purpose?
Ports 8003-8005 and port 443 can be opened for:
- E-mail notifications
- To enable the gateway server URL to communicate with the server

Is there any way to bypass having to enter the keys after rebooting?
There is no procedure to skip re-entering the passcodes. The encrypted key is hosted on RAM and will be wiped out every time the server is rebooted. This is mandated to be in compliance with PA-DSS.
